More than a traditional parks and recreation department, the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department maintains in excess of 2,500 acres of parks and 51 miles of trails. Additionally, the Department includes an art center, community centers, dance center, dog parks, historic vaudeville theatre, greenway, nature center, playgrounds, pools, splash pads, tennis centers, and even a zoo!
Each year, hundreds of individuals volunteer throughout the Department enhancing programs and activities through their time and energy. Many of the events and programs would not be possible without the support of our volunteers.
